1) The Terms of the Debate: Institutional Racism and the “white frame”

  • How is institutionalized racism manifesting in this story? How does it get challenged?

  • What do you make of the anti-climactic ending?

  • Are there ways in which the case study is relevant to your sangha and/or to the Buddhist organizations, communities and cultures you are part of?

2) Systemic Racism

  • Are there ways in which institutionalized and/or structural racism get enacted through you? Are there ways in which you cling to these systems?

  • What are some of the ways in which you and your family have benefitted from institutional and structural racism? Try to be specific.

  • In what ways does your life shield you from awareness of institutionalized and/or structural racism?

3) Resourcing in the Dharma

  • How might we articulate the Four Noble Truths of structural racism? 

  • What is at the hub if wheel of structural racism? Does it have a hub or hubs? 

  • How do I get off the wheel? Can I? Can we?
